A Day with Blue Carrot

I've been staring at this screen hoping the words would just type themselves, not sure why this has been so difficult to write? It was one of the most inspiring days of Luna In The Wild's life, being around one of my Florist idols was a dream come true, therefore it should be easy to write this blog post right?! No! It was so good, I don't know if I have the words to do it justice, so I'll let the photos do the talking you go, my day down in beautiful Cornwall with Susanne from Blue Carrot inspiring me and Annie from Honeybunch aka my flower twin! xxx

April Showers at Luna In The Wild

Wow what a month! It wasn't till I put these pictures together that I realised how much we've done/achieved. I am beyond proud and buzzing with excitement for how Luna In The Wild is coming together.

April Showers seemed like a sensible description of the month - lots of high & low moments - sunshine & showers!

April Showers aka lows

  • Constantly doubting myself
  • Thinking the business isn't going to take off
  • Accounting!
  • Family, friend & business life balance - one always seems to suffer!

April Sunshine aka highs

  • Family time at Easter
  • Freelancing with the lovely ladies at Passion, arch heaven!
  • Getting my new logo designed, flipping love it, my friend Andy is amazing!
  • Styling a shoot for wedding blog National Vintage Wedding Fair
  • Discovering Milan brand DoubleJ, seriously they are incredible; the patters, the colours, their styling, THEY ARE EVERYTHING
  • Creating the suspended 'Upside Down Meadow' with my flower bestie Annie from Honeybunch
  • Stocking up our studio with new vases
  • Wisteria hysteria
  • Cooking from Francis Mallman's new book, he is our food god!

Mother's Day Madness

This was my first big job for Luna In The Wild in it's new surrounding, The Studio Shed at Thickwood, I was so excited with nerves, I think I checked on the flowers all packaged up in their bags at least 20 times! Ridic!

And when I say it was our first job, I mean we had literally only moved in that morning, we hadn't even unpacked! I decided a 5am Flower Market just before we moved from London to Wiltshite was perfect timing to soft launch my business!

Well thankfully it all went swimmingly and all our lovely customers went away with bags of Bright Loonies and big smiles of their faces! V V happy indeed!

Our Story pt 2: Luna In The Wild was born

So 'tomorrow' for the part two blog post turned into a few weeks later, sorry! Right here we go, part two.....

After two fantastic, inspiring, couldn't-believe-I-was working-there years at Scarlet & Violet, the weight of living so far from family and fields become too much to bear any longer. And after A LOT of talking with my husband, we decided to put our London Flat on the market, and within a week it was SOLD! Aaaah things just got really real!

We had been dreaming of returning back to our West Country roots (I'm from nr Exeter, he's from nr Bath) for so many years you would have thought we would be jumping for joy, and we were, for a weekend when many a wine did flow to celebrate. However now it meant everything we had grown to accept as our norm was about to change dramatically. I was going to become self employed, work from a home I didn't know the area of AT ALL! And my husband was going to commute back and forth to the capital. To say we were anxious was an understatement, but that didn't put us off!

Fast forward a few months of solicitor admin, a few tears, parting with what felt like Monopoly money, we are all moved into the new abode, and oh my days does it feel good!

Luna In The Wild now officially has it's workplace, a fabulous, light, wooden studio/shed. Luna has loads of space to run around in and most importantly we are much closer to family! And after everything we've gone through, this is what is most important to us, a decent work/life balance with lots of family time.
